Digital Signage

What is meant by digital signage?

A simple explanation of digital signage, its components, and how it is used across industries.

"Digital signage" is just digital signboards. Just as boards or posters were being used to express a message, today we use digital screens to do the same thing more intelligently.

It comes from “sign board” → “signage” → “digital signage”. It is any digital display being used to convey information within a public or commercial setting.

In simple terms, digital signage is a screen + software + content. The screen displays the content, software controls it, and the content is what is being seen by people.

So whenever you see a screen showing ads within a shopping mall, a digital menu board at a café or a restaurant, or a flight information board within an airport. That is digital signage.
