Verdict

Which should you choose?

Pick ScreenCloud if…

Your screens mostly show what already lives in your other tools. ScreenCloud covers 77% of the integration capabilities on this page - Slack, Teams, Google Workspace, Power BI - against Scala's 55% and Wilyer's 14%. It also has the widest hardware support of the three at 87%, and the strongest user management at 81%.

The trade-off is control: on monitoring screens, locking devices down and running on your own server, it scores lowest of the three.

Pick Scala if…

You need screens people touch, or screens that sell advertising. Scala is the only one of the three with real interactive and kiosk coverage at 70%, and it leads on programmatic DOOH at 60%. It also handles rule-driven playback neither of the others matches.

It is the heaviest of the three to set up and run, and its hardware support is the narrowest at 30%.

Pick Wilyer if…

Your screens are spread across sites and head office has to keep them running. Wilyer covers every remote device management capability on this page (13 of 13) and every monitoring capability (6 of 6) - uptime history, live screenshots, offline alerts - plus Android lockdown and remote brightness, volume and power. It runs in the cloud or on your own server; the other two do not do both.

It is solid rather than leading on scheduling, publishing, analytics and layout, and it is behind on third-party integrations at 14%, with no interactive/kiosk or public API today. If those decide it for you, one of the other two is the better fit.

FAQ

ScreenCloud vs Scala - common questions

Straight answers on features, migration, and what changes when you switch. Still curious? Book a demo and we’ll walk through your specific signage stack.

Neither is universally better - it depends on your use case. ScreenCloud is better for cloud-first office and internal-communications signage with rich app integrations. Scala is better for large enterprise retail, QSR and transport networks that need on-premise deployment, a rules engine, programmatic DOOH and dedicated player hardware.
Scala is primarily an on-premise / self-hosted platform (part of Stratacache). Cloud-hosted options exist but are limited compared with cloud-native platforms, so Scala's cloud support is best described as partial.
No. ScreenCloud is cloud-only SaaS. If you need on-premise hosting or data to stay on your own servers, Scala - or an alternative like Wilyer - is the better fit.
Scala supports programmatic DOOH (including Quividi integration), ad campaign management and advertiser proof-of-play. ScreenCloud does not offer programmatic DOOH.
ScreenCloud exposes a GraphQL API. Scala provides a REST API plus the ScalaScript engine and SDK for custom logic and conditional playback. Wilyer has no public REST API today.
Wilyer offers both cloud and on-premise deployment, deep Android MDM and kiosk control, outdoor LED pixel mapping, broadcast over VPN, and hospital HIS integration - combining ScreenCloud-style setup speed with Scala-style enterprise depth. It covers less ground than either on content authoring and integrations; the full matrix on this page sets out exactly where.
